UA’s Culverhouse School of Accountancy Again Ranked in Top 25
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In its annual ranking of accounting programs, Public Accounting Report
again ranks The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of
Accountancy in the top 25 in the nation at all three levels:
undergraduate, graduate and doctoral.
The
undergraduate program came in at No. 15, the graduate programs at No.
21 and the doctoral program at No. 25. All three programs were ranked
in the top 25 last year as well.
One of the leading trade publications for certified public accountants, Public Accounting Report bases its rankings on the largest national survey of accounting academics, conducted annually by PAR's sister publication, CPA Personnel Report. The results appeared in the Nov. 30 edition of PAR.
“This is a tribute to our faculty, and the dedication it has to
providing a top quality accounting education to all of our students,
graduate and undergraduate, and to our alumni and board of directors
for making sure that we stay on the right track in providing a
meaningful curriculum,” said Dr. Mary Stone, head of the accounting
program.
Two Southeastern Conference schools were
ranked ahead of UA – Georgia and Florida. The University of Texas at
Austin was ranked No. 1 in all three categories.
The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration
was established in 1919, and in 1929 it became the 38th school to earn
admission into the American Association of Collegiate Schools of
Business. The excellence of the UA business school has been
acknowledged on a national level. The undergraduate program is ranked
29th among public universities by U.S. News, and the entrepreneurial program is ranked No. 18 by Entrepreneur magazine. The Culverhouse School of Accountancy also is ranked 15th among public universities by U.S. News.
The
University of Alabama, a student-centered research university, is in
the midst of planned, steady enrollment growth with a goal of reaching
28,000 students by 2010. This growth, which is positively impacting the
campus and the state's economy, is in keeping with UA's vision to be
the university of choice for the best and brightest students. UA, the
state's flagship university, is an academic community united in its
commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Alabamians.
