M.B.A. Association Officers Contribute $20,000 to Scholarship Fund
Officers
of The University of Alabama’s M.B.A. Association have learned that
persistence pays off. Each year the student-run association has
contributed a modest amount of money to a scholarship fund at the
Manderson Graduate School of Business.
The money contributed this year raised the scholarship fund to endowed
status. The M.B.A .Class of 2008 awarded its first scholarships to two
students at its scholarship golf tournament last fall, and earlier this
year, the M.B.A. class leadership presented J. Barry Mason, dean of the
Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, with
$20,000 endowment check, according to C.J. Jacobs, president of the
Class of 2008 M.B.A. Association.
“This year’s class is exemplary in terms of their leadership in many
areas, but they especially understood the importance of leaving a
legacy, of giving to future students, and making the program better
because of their involvement,” said Susan West, assistant dean and
director of the Manderson Graduate School of Business.
“The program and students for many years to come will always be
grateful for the efforts of the M.B.A. Association, but we are
particularly proud of this group. They represent the very best of what
it means to be a University of Alabama M.B.A. student.”
Jacobs said the M.B.A. Class of 2008’s leadership and students set
out to accomplish several goals last year. Establishing an M.B.A..
Association - need based scholarship was at the top of this list,
Jacobs said.
“ The group was simply driven by the social responsibility to
continue to improve the M.B.A. program by helping give a deserving
person the opportunity to improve themselves and become a leader of
tomorrow,” Jacobs said.
